Appendix 5 – Products list

Whether food item or clothes or toiletries, inmates were required to purchase their items through the commissary. Each prison had its own setup and own way of running its shop. Sometimes, the lists were worn down over time and, with plenty of time on his hands, Craig recreated the list from scratch. In some cases, the forms were like the old Scantron test sheets. Looking at some of the pricing, it makes it pretty obvious how difficult it was for prisoners to have many nice things considering a sweatshirt cost $6.85, and many inmates only made 30 to 50 cents an hour if they had a job.
